Are you looking for curated, one-on-one guidance to help you write a children’s book?
Writing can be a solitary act, but it doesn’t have to be. Working with critique groups and partners, participating in workshops, webinars, and forums, and hiring an editor are all great ways to network, write, and work with other kidlit creatives. But sometimes authors need that little bit of extra guidance, and that is what my curated, one-on-one Children’s Book Coaching Services are for.
Who can benefit from a Children’s Book Coach?
Some reasons you might benefit from children’s book coaching sessions are…
- you are stuck on an idea and not sure where to go next, or even where to start
- you are brand new to writing children’s books and would love a helping hand along the way
- you are in the query trenches and need a boost
- you are seeking professional feedback on your career path as a kidlit author
- you simply need a place to vent, share your journey, and receive support and guidance
My coaching package includes a combination of face-to-face meetings and editorial services. We will meet weekly, every other week, or once a month, depending on your preference. During our introductory session we will discuss your goals short and long term, your project(s), and how you would like to focus our coaching sessions.
Do I have to submit materials?
You may submit a full or partial manuscript (up to 2500 words), or up to two picture book manuscripts before our initial session, if you prefer. The submissions are meant to familiarize me with your writing. Submission materials may also include a query letter, outline, or synopsis. This is not a requirement to set up our first meeting. I am best suited to serve authors writing picture books, chapter books, and middle grade novels.
Rates and Logistics
Initial consultation call: $240; Coaching rates: $140/hour
Our first call will be one hour. You can submit up to 2500 words of a single project, or two picture book manuscripts. These materials can include a query letter and/or synopsis, and this is not a requirement. After our initial call, we will select a start date and that begins our coaching agreement. In this way, authors have a chance to meet with me one-on-one before committing, giving us a chance to get to know each other. You can book your first coaching call here.
After our first call:
- We will choose a start date
- Guaranteed up to 5 hours per month of combined editing and google meetings as requested; more upon request
- Only billed for editing time and meetings you request
- Standard email communications included (unless they require editing work or coaching services)
- My rates are $140 per hour
- Billing occurs the first of the month for the previous month’s work
- Invoices are due within 3 days
You are not obligated to continue with coaching services after our initial call! That is a get-to-know you session, and a great way to get initial feedback on your project.
I take a limited number of coaching clients per month; space is limited
